I enjoy the creative and rewarding process of designing and making my handmade jewellery. I've been inspired by my Grandfather with whom I spent many hours learning from him in his workshop. I now design and make all of my jewellery pieces myself in my jewellery workshop.
I love jewellery with a difference and hope you do too.
I graduated as an Adult Nurse and worked on some of the busiest wards in the UK. After more than 25 years working in the NHS and voluntary sector I decided to follow a passion and start creating my own silver jewellery.
Some people are lucky enough to make a career out of a passion and I felt it was time to try myself. The phrase 'if you don't give it a go, you'll never know' followed me for years and now here I am!
I enjoy both making & wearing jewellery but have now come to love the design process. My initial ideas or inspiration can come from anything, a plant, a bird's feather, a fabric, anything at all. The natural world is a common inspiration and Scotland has a wealth of this. I enjoy developing ideas until they are ready to be realised. Once committed to silver the journey takes on a more exciting stage where things can fail, succeed or change and develop. I think I now get as much enjoyment out of creating my pieces as I do wearing them.
My workbench usually has a number of pieces at various stages. I still use some of my Grandfather's original jewellery-making tools as well as a variety of modern tools and even some homemade adapted tools. I get a lot of satisfaction putting the hours in and becoming all consumed by the process.
